Completely unbelieveable - that's what anyone would have said had they been there to witness the infamous pirate resurfacing in the crystal clear waters of the ocean. But no one was there.
Captain Jack Sparrow had endured a rough battle with the Kraken, a tentacled creature that he had believed to be mere myth. Of course, that was only until he was enveloped by the beast after being chained to the mast of the Black Pearl by Elizabeth. Yet it was probably best that things had happened that way, for aformentioned governor's daughter, Will and the rest of the Pearl's crew had escaped safely. If Elizabeth had not in fact fastened him aboard his beloved ship, all of them could have lost their lives. Now none of them had, although Jack presumed that they thought him dead. Anyone in their right mind would, after all.
Jack couldn't help but think back to that fateful moment; actually the predecessor to it. Had Elizabeth succumbed to curiosity like he had predicted (or rather just made up some bunch of nonsense in order to seduce her)? Or did she really hold some semblance of feelings? Doubtful, the captain thought to himself as he treaded water in attempts to keep himself afloat. She was engaged to be married to dear William anyways, and Jack had almost ripped the two apart by tricking Will to retrieve the key from Davy Jones. Did he feel remorseful? A bit, but he was Captain Jack Sparrow - to the world he said that he was fine with it. Yet no more thoughts of Will, Elizabeth or the rest of the crew crossed his mind; for the time being, Jack had to figure out how to maintain his current state and not drift back down to meet Davy Jones.
Even though he was alive, Captain Jack Sparrow remained apprehensive. He coughed up a bit of ocean water, sputtering as he pushed his dark locks out of his eyes. Not only was he floating in the middle of an enormous body of water, but he had absolutely no semblance of his bearings; not to mention that land seemed to be nowhere in the near vicinity or in sight. Well, it certainly seemed that Jack was in quite the quagmire. Hopefully, Will, Elizabeth and the others were on his trail, searching desperately for him. But for now, all the thoughts that entertained his mind were clouded with worry and doubt. "Oh bugger."

Turner’s boots hit the wet sand roughly. His footprints could be seen heading miles away from the ship. His dark brown eyes we’re fixed on the edge of the water, and he studied every centimeter of it. He was looking for whatever else might save Jack, but he could not exactly find anything that seemed to fit the description of interesting, only sand. Young Will had not had much luck finding anything; Elizabeth was the one who found the chest. Then again the rest of the crew had not found anything either. They had only scanned the forest, and the cave, maybe there was something more beyond those acres of land.
And then he saw it. It was a hat, an ebony leather hat, it seemed broken in with years, and signs of battle were cracked it in. William bent down and picked it up, examining it further. It was bent in sort of like a triangle, except it was less neat. He knew this hat, and it did not even take him a minute to figure out whose it was.
”Jack…”
He whispered to his own ears. His skull turned towards the ocean and he looked at the many miles of sea. He was out there somewhere, and the truth was Will never doubted he was alive for a second. The youthful man scratched his chin, and turned to walk in the opposite direction. When he found the extra small boat he tossed the hat in, and then climbed aboard himself. He did not even think of calling the others, he just grabbed an ore and was off into the deep blue sea to look for his captain.
Barbossa was not truthfully the most fun captain in the whole world. William labeled him a boring captain. When he saw the bearded man inside Tia’s little hut he almost yelled in protest. But he kept it in. He was not thrilled to have the man who tried to kill Elizabeth, Jack and him, come back to lead the crew… And found it hard to believe that he was helping him find Jack. Oh well… You can’t win them all.
After an hour Will turned to look backwards. There was blue, only blue. The sky was blue, and so was the water. He could not see any island. He looked forward once more, and widened his eyes at what he saw. It was a blob, a blob of black, but that blob was Jack… And he was certain it was him. Will’s paddling became more intense and quicker.
”Jack!!!”
He shouted to him not sure the pirate could hear him. They were still far from each other, but he was quickly gaining. It was about ten minutes later before he reached the dread locked pirate. A smile creased his feature, and his chapped lips parted.
”Never doubted yah for a second mate”
He said with a grin, happy to see his loyal friend. None of the crew had really said Jack was down swimming with the fishes, but a few of them had said it in their eyes.

Although he was a pirate, treading water for countless hours was not an easy task even for the infamous Captain Jack Sparrow. To pass the time, he had currently resorted to singing to himself. "...and really bad eggs...drink up me 'earties, yo ho!" The song that had become the stereotypical melody of piratehood was now sung with a diluted enthusiasm - floating in the middle of the ocean in isolation tended to have that pessimistic effect.
Yet Jack hadn't completely lost hope. After all, he had survived a battle with the Kraken; what was being stranded in the middle of a gigantic body of salt water? He did, however, praise whatever forces controlled the weather, for he could have been much worse off. Right now, the skies and water were crystal clear, retaining a brilliant blue hue that was impeccable. If his legs weren't becoming extremely tired from having tread water for several hours now, Jack could have stayed there forever.
Then he heard it, a faint whisper in the distance. "Jack!!"
Could it be, someone come to his rescue? Rotating his body around, Jack detected the outline of someone rowing a boat. They were nearing in proximity, so this very well could be his saving grace. It was about time, the infamous pirate thought to himself; even though he was grateful that someone was finally coming for him, he couldn't deny the aching in his entire body. But that was something that Jack would never relay to anyone. As the boat finally approached him, Captain Sparrow immediately recognized who had come to save him, this realization bringing a smirk to his features. Ah, William Turner.
The young boy himself smiled, obviously glad to have found his stranded friend. "Never doubted ya for a second, mate."
"Glad to hear it," Jack replied as his grin broadened. "After all, I'm Captain Jack Sparrow, savvy? Now do us all a favor, mate, and gimme a hand up to my ship."

He cocked a brow at Jack as he asked for a hand on to the… Ship? Will did not even bother to correct the man. The young man paddled closer to him, but stopped to let the small waves bring the boat over. When Will neared his friend he held out a hand, and clenched the captain’s and heaved him aboard the small but sturdy boat. Will leaned forward and grabbed the leathery hat once again, this time throwing it in the bearded man’s direction.
”Found your hat up on shore”
He said, his smile lightening, and disappearing as he turned the boat around to head back to the dreaded island. The ores were heavy in the rough water and hard to drag through it, but Will being as tired as he was, got through it with no problems. As minutes past he still could not see the massive island, they were probably still a zillion miles from it. The trip would take longer to get back than it had to get up, for the waves we’re not going with him, but were going against him. And every time a wave came, it bumped the boat a little backwards. To be completely honest Will half expected the Kraken’s tentacles to reach up and pull them under since he had Jack Sparrow, but not a suctiony pink rope was in sight.
”What did yah do with the kraken?”
William asked with curiosity, his head turning back to look at the pirate for a second. Maybe Jack slaughtered it when he leaped inside the beast’s toothy mouth, or murdered it while inside the belly of the monster. It was amazing he escaped, almost as amazing as it was that he actually stayed onboard. At least everyone was alive, well… Almost everyone, as they did loose mostly all the new crew. But they did have most of the crew, the important ones anyway.

Jack smirked as Will obliged and gave him a hand up into the rowboat. Even though he was temporarily confined to this, he knew that eventually he would be back to his ship. Then, just as suddenly as that optimistic thought had come, it termed itself fleeting and disappeared. Jack didn't have his ship, for the Kraken had destroyed it in its attempts to devour Jack. The Black Pearl was eternally gone, sunk down to the depths of the ocean; that was unless the crew had managed to salvage it just as they had rescued their captain.
As he finally got aboard and was sitting upright, Jack found something being tossed at him. ”Found your hat up on shore.” Ah, good ol' Will. Not only had he rescued Jack, but he had saved his hat as well - all just as important. Nodding his appreciation, he placed the hat atop his head and smiled a toothy grin, his gold teeth glinting in the sun. It felt so good to be properly attired, complete now with all his affects. He wasn't Captain Jack Sparrow without his hat, after all.
As Will started to row, Jack wondered where they were headed - had they acquired another ship to replace the Pearl? Had they been able to rescue the Black Pearl from its watery grave? Or was he being taken to some island that the crew was stranded on for now per the sinking of his beloved ship? He was about to ask a similar inquiry when Will presented one of his own, turning about to look at Jack.
”What did yah do with the Kraken?”
At this, Jack looked out over the calm, sparkling waters of the ocean. True enough, he had defeated the Kraken in his own terms, but that didn't mean that Davy Jones couldn't summon another beastie. "I beat it at its own game, mate," Jack admitted, turning his gaze back to focus on Will. His eyes hardened as he began to tell his story, for even though he had come out the victor, the struggle had been a rough one. "Jones's terrible beastie preys on devouring people, ripping them to shreds, savvy? Instead, I stuck it with me sword, permantly wounding it...doesn't mean to say that it won't be back. Just not anytime soon."
As Will's face contorted into a look of bewilderment, Jack returned his gaze to the ocean waters. "Which reminds me, I need a new sword, mate. If you'd be so kind as to acquire one for me once we get aboard the ship...you do have a ship, don't yah?" There, he had asked it. Maybe not quite in the manner in which he had wanted to, but the question was posed.

Will nodded as Jack began to tell his story. Only a few minutes ago Jack’s words had been enthusiastic and entertaining, but he was now dead serious. He had wounded the creature, the damage he had caused must have been rather large to cause it to be in great pain… For if not it would have kept on trying to murder Jack. The previous time Will had gathered a pile of barrels, and told Elizabeth to shoot them. But she had not, instead Jack had and the barrels blew up right in the Kraken’s er, face. It sunk down below with pain, and Mr. Gibbs proclaimed that they only made it more angry. Perhaps that was what Jack had done, made the beast’s temper boil.
His words lost their seriousness after a pause of silence, and the captain beseeched a new sword for he had lost his own. William nodded. Being a blacksmith, William made swords, beautiful shiny swords, that everyone appreciated. He had one with him currently, in its hard leather case attached to his belt. The swords that were on the Black Pearl had been lost when the Kraken took the ship down. Jack must have remembered this for he inquired if the crew had a ship. He must have been a little disconcerted that his ship was gone, after all he had made a deal with Davy Jones to get the ship, and years ago they had fought to get the Pearl back. And now the gorgeous ship was gone, and probably had sharks living in it.
”Aye the Tenebrous…”
He responded, he was debating whether he should tell Jack about Barbossa. He might as well, Jack would end up finding out when they got back on shore anyway.
”Barbossa’s back, Tia sent him with us to help get you back”
Will added. Jack most likely would not be very happy, no he would not be happy at all. Barbossa was an old member of Jack’s crew, but he took over and left Jack stranded on an island, with nothing… Nothing but rum that is.

"Aye, the Tenebrous..."
So, they did have a ship and, alas, it was not his beloved Black Pearl. Jack was disheartened to hear his suspicions confirmed, yet he had mentally prepared himself to hear this news. He couldn't really have suspected his ship to have survived the attack from the Kraken - he himself had barely made it out alive himself, and he was hardly unscathed. Captain Jack Sparrow, however, couldn't help but be saddened by the loss of the Pearl; after the ordeal that he and the others, namely Will, had gone through to secure the ship, the destruction of it came as a shot to the heart.
And he had even went through all that trouble with Davy Jones to have it risen from the depths! Alas, not even Jack Sparrow could bargain with him anymore. The thought had crossed Jack's mind, but with Jones thinking that he had gone down with the ship, any negotiating was not possible. Also, there was the matter of Davy Jones's heart. Although Jack was no longer in possession of the wretched thing, the owner of the organ suspected it as such. He would track down Sparrow's crew, more than likely, and try to take it back. This thought plagued Jack - would his crew befall a similar fate to his? Even if one of Jones's 'terrible beasties' chose to attack them, not all of them survive. In fact, only a sparse handful probably would.
Turning his attention back to Will, Jack grimaced as he continued. "Barbossa’s back, Tia sent him with us to help get you back."
What? At this, Jack was enraged; he had shot that murderous traitor and watched him die amongst the heaps of gold. How the bloody hell was he captaining (at least that's what he assumed) Jack's crew? Jack's face contorted into an expression of anger, his sentiments evident in his gaze as he glanced out over the waters of the ocean. "What?" he inquired simply, looking around for the ship and aformentioned mutinous first mate. Not seeing anything right away, he turned back to stare at Will. "Curse 'im, curse 'im to oblivion, I'd rather have the bloody devil captain of my crew! Things are going to change once I step on board, savvy?" It was obvious that Jack was infuriated by the return of Barbossa, yet this was a demanding side of the infamous pirate that had never been revealed.
Furrowing his brow, Jack stopped for a moment. "Does Elizabeth still have my compass? And where is that blasted heart?"

As Jack fell silent Will could not help but be afflicted by the loss of the ship. They had worked so hard to get the ship in their last adventure, and they got it. The Black Pearl had brought them so many places this past month, and then the Kraken pulled it down. Maybe once Will stabbed the heart of Davy Jones the ship would appear like magic, was it possible? If it did not they could always steal one of the ships from the dock at Port Royal… It may not have gone through as much history as the Pearl had, but it was still a ship, and a fast ship to top that.
His eyes squinted as the sun beamed into his chocolate pools. Will could now see the shore, and the magnificent Tenebrous. A slight smile came to his lips, but vanished once the fact that Barbossa was leading his crew. He found Jack’s words rather amusing, the man got upset alright, and damn mad. Barbossa was basically Satan, or at least he had been the devil. Before he was hostile and sour, and now he was as dull as the desert.
”Agreed… Bloody bastards as boring as hell”
He chuckled at his own words. He too could not believe the previous captain of the Black Pearl had returned. He saw Jack shoot him with the last bullet in his pistol. He cut his own hand, and smothered the Aztec gold coin with his crimson blood… He witnessed him fall to the ground, a ghostly pale hue covering his bodice. He found it quite impossible that Barbossa was back, but the old man had not told his tale yet, in fact he had been rather silent when he wasn’t shouting demands.
William’s brow furrowed at Jack’s mention of Elizabeth, he did not really wish to hear him speak her name… But since he was not really taking about her, he would answer the question.
”Aye, she still has it”
The young man answered. And where is that blasted heart? The truth was nobody really knew where the heart was, it was supposed to be in that jar of dirt, like Jack had proclaimed before the beast swallowed him. But when Jack dropped it there was no sign of it. Their suspicion was that James Norrington had taken it, and that was why he stayed at the island. But they had no idea where the hell Norrington was.
”We suspect Norrington took it… but god knows where he is”

"Agreed… Bloody bastards as boring as hell."
A smirk arose on Jack's face at Will's sentiments, glad to hear that he was in agreement. After all, the young man did not bear a grudge against Barbossa as Captain Sparrow did; the two had only been acquainted per his adventure to assist in the retrieval of the Black Pearl, thought to be the rescue of his dear Elizabeth. Both had ended up being accomplished, and the mutinous first mate had been shot with the pistol that Jack had always carried with him, an advantageous weapon that only held one shot.
That solitary chance had been righteously savored when having taken the opportunity; Jack had been elated to kill that back-stabbing traitor and win back the Pearl. After all, Barbossa had taken the ship away from Jack in the first place by stirring up a mutiny amongst the crew and then marooning him on an island. The only thing that he had been left with was that fateful pistol, the mistake that Barbossa had made. For Jack was a pirate keen on accomplishing his goals by whatever means necessary - if he wanted revenge, he was going to get his revenge.
And he did get his revenge...or at least he thought he had. Barbossa was the last person that Jack would have suspected to be temporarily leading his crew in a rescue attempt, but the truth was that he was there. Although not literally seeing him, Jack saw the Tenebrous, the replacement for the Pearl, and stared at it in awe. Of course, it never would hold the place of reverence that was reserved for the Black Pearl, but it was a magnificent ship nevertheless. His attention was snapped back to Will, however, as his replies to Jack's inquiries came.
"Aye, she still has it."
Good, so Elizabeth still had his compass. It may have been quite sad to some, but that device was prized to him, almost as important as the Black Pearl had been. Maybe even treasured above the point of his seemingly lost ship. Yet what perplexed him was the tone of voice and expression with which Will told him of this fact - there was the slight sound of embitterment, something that Jack had never heard evident in his voice before. What on earth could possibly cause him to....then suddenly, it clicked. Realization dawned on his face as a slight smirk crept onto his features; Will had undoubtedly seen Elizabeth's act of curiosity before the Kraken had claimed the Pearl.
As to Davy Jones's heart, Will also answered that question, although he seemed unsure in his response. "We suspect Norrington took it… but God knows where he is." Damn Norrington, Jack thought, his fists clenched tight at this bit of news. All he knew was that, if the previous Commodore indeed had taken the heart, then he had undoubtedly traded it to someone of higher importance...also that the crew of the Black Pearl were in for another adventure. "Ah, well, let's get me back to my ship and we'll see what we can do, savvy?" There was an air of impatience about Jack, and even though the Pearl was gone, some may have considered it strange that he referred to the ship he was returning to as his.

Will pondered why Tia Dalm had chosen Barbossa to lead them for the time being. The once first mate of Captain Jack Sparrow had hated Jack; he could not stand the man. But he did listen to him; then again Jack was talented at persuading everyone, everyone but Davy Jones that was. Davy Jones wanted Jack’s soul so he could torcher him for all eternity; it was either that or 100 souls. And William was going to be one of those 100 souls because Jack had handed him over to get the key. But there was a bright side to the dilemma, if Jack hadn’t put him aboard he would have never met his father, but again there was a bad side… if he had not been sent to the Flying Dutchmen his father would not be working for Davy Jones for all eternity. That was the reason Will needed the heart, so he could free his father… But Jack and Norrington had other plans for the heart. Barbossa who probably try kill Jack and steal another one of his ships.
Mr. Turner was not sure how the next adventure would go down, they would have to invade Port Royal and hunt down Norrington. James was likely with Lord Cutler Beckett begging to have his job back. It was then something snapped in his head, Beckett… He wanted the compass to find a treasure, when he and Beckett chatted the white wigged man had told him that Will would know nothing of the thing he was looking for. It must have been the heart; Beckett had to be looking for the heart. And Cutler Beckett was the one who fired Norrington, he must have made a deal with Norrington… How come Will had never thought of this before?
”Beckett has it… Norrington gave Beckett the heart”
He explained, the first sentence a barely audible whisper, and the next loud enough for Jack to hear. There was a loud thump following his exclamation, the ore had hit the ground. His head shot up, and his cocoa eyes noticed that they were almost right beside the ship. His eyes flicked up to the deck to see if Elizabeth was there but he saw no sign of her, she must be downstairs with the crew.

"Beckett has it… Norrington gave Beckett the heart."
Realization seemed to have dawned on young William, for this outburst seemed urgent and newfound. Jack, having dawled with the East India Trading Company before, did not take this bit of news lightly. He had profited from such dealings, but with Beckett holding custody of Davy Jones's heart, the outcome was not to be auspicious at all; things were better off when Will, Norrington and himself were all battling for the possession of it. Will wanted it so that he could kill the captain of the Flying Dutchman and save his father, Norrington had wished to claim it in an attempt to regain some of his honor (which he apparently was already doing), and Jack...well, Jack wanted the heart to save his own skin.
Even though Captain Sparrow's reasoning for wanting Davy Jones's heart was not at all amiable, his possession of aformentioned organ would have been far less detrimental than Beckett having it. Lord Cuttler Beckett, as leader of the East India Trading Company, could use the heart as a vital source in his endeavors. Unfortunately for everyone else, his means were not benevolent - he would control the seas. If what Will was saying was true, he currently did control the seas.
However, before Jack had the chance to respond, a large thud interrupted his thoughts. Will's ore had struck a sandy white beach...land. Offering a hand to Will, Jack helped him climb out of the rowboat and onto shore, admiring the Tenebrous from a mere few feet away. It really was a remarkable ship, yet it could never be the same as the Pearl. "Oye!" he shouted, nearing his new craft with giant steps, the pirate who had rescued him close behind. "Get out here ye scurvy dogs, ol' Jack is back!" A toothy smirk arose on his face as he gazed up at the deck, awaiting to see if anyone would respond.
((Should I double post this at the Tenebrous board?))
